The most common question we hear about social security is: “When should I begin receiving benefits – at age 62, full retirement age (66/67), or at age 70.”
Seems like a simple answer but not so fast. Most clients we see in our practice today can receive full social security benefits at age 66 or 67. If you begin at age 62, you will receive a reduced benefit of approximately 25%. If you delay benefits to age 70, you can increase benefits by approximately 1/3.
Married couples have many possible choices. Texas Financial and Retirement has a sophisticated software program that can help you determine how to maximize your social security benefits. You may request a free 4-page questionnaire from our office to complete and return for a no-cost, no-obligation social security benefit report.
